Launch of the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro with removable battery (update: US price)

Samsung says Microsoft is the first partner to take advantage of the XCover Pro's push-to-talk functionality. The device is integrated with Microsoft Teams and provides direct access to Teams' new Walkie Talkie functionality from a programmable key on the side of the device. Samsung hopes this will help employees communicate faster in areas like retail, healthcare, logistics and manufacturing.
The Galaxy XCover Pro will be available in the United States via Verizon in the first half of 2020. The device is priced at $ 499.99.
Source article, January 8, 2020 (06:15 AM ET): Samsung has quietly launched a new Galaxy smartphone. Called Galaxy XCover Pro, the device is the latest addition to the Samsung line of rugged smartphones. It succeeds the XCover 4 which had been launched in 2017.
Unlike most smartphones in the XCover series, the new XCover Pro has a more modern design. It gets a 6.3 inch LCD screen with an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and a punch hole in the upper left corner. The screen can be used with wet hands or with gloves.
The phone is powered by Samsung's octa-core silicon Exynos 9611, combined with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It gets a 4050mAh with a fast charge of 15W.
The Galaxy XCover Pro's dual main camera setup includes a 25MP wide angle lens and an 8MP ultra wide sensor. On the front is a 13MP selfie snapper.
What is different with the XCover Pro is that unlike recent Samsung smartphones, it comes with a removable battery. That said, it is also water and dust resistant to IP68 and is certified US Military Standard (MIL-STD-810) for its durability and robustness.
It has two programmable buttons which can allow users to turn on / off the flashlight or create text messages using their voice. The volume keys and the power button / fingerprint reader are separate.
Telephone works Android 10 out of the box but could qualify for a Android 10 update In the future. Samsung's Knox platform manages the security of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro will be available in Europe from February 2020. It is expected to cost just under € 500 (~ $ 556).
