These alerts should be seen as useful, as they spread important info among the community and increase the chances of finding a missing person. Nevertheless, they can be a bit disruptive at times, especially if you get one at three in the morning. While we advise you keep these alerts turned on at all times, we’ll show you how you can turn off Amber alerts if you prefer.
The process is extremely simple, but only if you know where to look. The problem is that the setting can be found in a different place depending on your device and carrier, which can cause some confusion. How to turn off Amber alerts on stock Android

Doing this using the Pixel 4 and other stock Android devices is simple. The first thing you have to do is head into the settings menu and tap on “Apps & notifications”. After that, select “Advanced” followed by “Emergency alerts,” and then switch off the “Amber alerts” option.

- Tap on “Emergency alerts.”

How to turn off Amber alerts on Samsung phones
If you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone like the latest Galaxy S20 or Note 10, the process is a bit different than the one described above. The first step is to open the Messages app and tap the three-dot icon next to the search button. Once that’s done, select “Settings”, tap the “Emergency alert settings” option followed by “Emergency alerts”, and then just deactivate your amber alerts.
Turn off Amber alerts in Samsung devices:
- Open the Messages app.
- Tap the three-dot icon next to the search button.
- Tap the “Settings” options.
- Select “Emergency alert settings.”
- Tap the “Emergency alerts” option.
- Find the “Amber alerts” option and turn it off.
In case this method doesn’t work for you, there’s an additional one you can try. First, navigate to Settings > Connections > More connection settings. Then tap the “Wireless emergency alerts” option followed by “Settings.” The last two steps are to select “Alert types” and then find and turn off the right option.
Second method:
- Navigate to Settings > Connections > More connection settings.
- Tap the “Wireless emergency alerts” option.
- Tap on “Settings.”
- Select the “Alert types” option.

How to turn off Amber alerts on OnePlus phones
To get rid of these alerts on OnePlus devices like the OnePlus 8 Pro, you have to open the Messages app, tap the three-dot menu icon, and select “Settings.” Then select the “Wireless alerts” option, tap the three-dot menu icon again, followed by “Settings.” Once that’s done, all there’s left to do is to find the “Amber alerts” option and turn it off.

How to turn off Amber alerts on LG phones

We’ll show you two methods for turning off alerts on LG phones like the V60 ThinQ. To get started, navigate to Settings > Network & internet > Wireless Emergency Alerts. Then tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, select “Settings,” and turn off the “Amber alerts” option.

- Navigate to Settings > Network & internet > Wireless Emergency Alerts.
- Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap the “Settings” options.
- Find the “Amber alerts” option and turn it off.
The second option is to open the Messages app on your phone and then tap Menu > Settings > Emergency alerts. To finish the process, find the “Amber alerts” option and disable it.
