Xiaomi Triple Screen Patent ImagesIt's home

Thanks to some recent patents identified by It's home, we just took a first look at a few unique devices that we might see in the future of Xiaomi. These patents don't reveal too much information, but they do show us what appear to be two triple screen or possibly foldable devices.

Xiaomi filed for a patent late last month, and the Chinese Intellectual Property Office announced its approval on January 10. Unfortunately, there is no description of these devices available, so all we have to do is the sketches and renderings.

The first device rocks what appears to be a nearly frameless three-sided design, with the display wrapped around the front, back, and left side. There is no visible front camera, although we can see a network of two cameras on the back. We can't tell if Xiaomi has completely omitted a front camera or if it's just hiding in one of the tiny glasses or under the screen.

The second device also flips the front and back screens, but instead of rolling up on the side, the screen of that device goes over. The patents do not include a rendering showing the top of this device, so we cannot be sure whether it wraps completely like the first device or not. It also has a rear facing dual camera setup with no visible selfie camera like the first render.

Although the patents do not say whether one or the other device is foldable or not, it should be mentioned that this could be the case. If so, the former appears to be a horizontal folding device while the latter would display a vertical folding design. Last month we looked at another patent for a Xiaomi vertical foldable, but, unlike this device, these two new patents would present foldable displays similar to Huawei Mate X.

Note, this is only speculation until we officially hear more information from Xiaomi. And, as is the case with all patents, there is no guarantee that Xiaomi will even put these devices on the market.
