Samsung is holding its next Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow, and it’ll give us a look at five new devices that’ll “combine power with functionality, whether you’re at work or play.”
The upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series is expected to be the main event, but with five products ready for announcement there’s clearly more to look forward to than that.
Here’s all you need to know about Galaxy Unpacked, from livestream details to the expected announcements.
When is the Galaxy Note 20 live stream?
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked takes place tomorrow, 5 August, and is being live-streamed from South Korea.
While the live streams aren’t available just yet, it’s expected to be available on the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked site alongside the company’s YouTube channel.
What time is Galaxy Unpacked 2020?
The time of the event depends on where you are – it’s kicking off at 11pm KST local time in South Korea, which translates to a comfortable 3pm BST start for those of us tuning in from the UK.
Here’s a breakdown of timings to help because, let’s be honest, time zones can be pretty confusing:
- Pacific Daylight Time (PDT): 7:00am
- Eastern Daylight Time (EDT): 10:00am
- British Summer Time (BST): 3:00pm
- Central European Summer Time (CEST): 4:00pm

What will Samsung announce at Galaxy Unpacked 2020?
Samsung has already confirmed that it is planning to showcase five new devices at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in August.
“At this summer’s Galaxy Unpacked, we’ll be introducing five new power devices. These devices deliver on our vision to be the innovator of new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously wherever we go,” the company said in a statement.
That could simply mean three versions of the Note 20 – an expected trio – alongside the hotly-anticipated Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Watch 3, as hinted later in the note. But, if the Note 20 range is counted as a single product, we could see the upgraded Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 for the first time too, alongside something else.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 range
The star of Galaxy Unpacked will undoubtedly be the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 range. The upcoming smartphone series has been rumoured for quite some time, and leaks suggest we’re in for a big change: the duo could become a trio, as was the case with the Galaxy S20 series. Rumours suggest we’ll see the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Plus and a new Note 20 Ultra too.
In terms of what to expect, the standard Note 20 will sport a flat 6.3in display, while the Note 20 Plus and Ultra will sport curved 6.8in and (possibly) 6.9in displays respectively – although not curved to the same extreme level as the likes of the Motorola Edge. Unsurprisingly, the range is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865+ or Exynos 990 depending on where you are in the world, and 5G should be available across the range too.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live

Alongside the Note 20 range, Samsung is expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, offering a completely different design to the Galaxy Buds+ released earlier this year.
You see, the Galaxy Buds Live are rumoured to be shaped like, well, kidney beans. This means that the earbuds are likely to encroach into the ear canal like the Buds+ and competitors like the AirPods Pro and Huawei Freebuds 3, offering a more comfortable listening experience for those that don’t like the feeling of in-ear headphones.
Alongside the new design, rumours suggest it’ll feature active noise-cancellation – a much-requested feature of the Buds+ – and will run for 11 hours before needing a top-up in the included carry case.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
Despite the ‘3’ in the name, the upcoming Galaxy Watch 3 is actually a replacement for the first-gen Galaxy Watch, released back in 2018. The logic is that Samsung has a sports-focused Galaxy Watch Active 2 on the market, so it makes more sense to jump straight to 3.
Beyond the slightly confusing naming process, the Galaxy Watch 3 is rumoured to be available in two variants with 1.2in and 1.4in displays respectively, and it’s claimed that it’ll take on the Apple Watch with built-in ECG, heart-rate and blood pressure monitoring. There’s also features like 5ATM water resistance said to be on offer, making the Galaxy Watch 3 one to watch for fitness-focused Samsung fans.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2
Yes, the second-generation Galaxy Fold could make an appearance at Galaxy Unpacked, even if it’s not rumoured to go up for pre-order until later this year. After the rough early days of the Galaxy Fold, people have learned to love Samsung’s large-screen foldable, and rumours suggest the second-gen smartphone will boast some key upgrades.
The biggest change is the introduction of a larger 6.2in front-facing display, visible when the Fold has been, ahem, folded. The first-gen Fold had a disappointing 4.6in display on the front of the folded smartphone, and compared to the likes of the Huawei Mate Xs, it looked a little dated, so it’s a welcome change for Samsung fans.
The huge notch on the larger 7.3in display of the original Galaxy Fold is rumoured to be gone now too, replaced by a holepunch camera system that is said to look much cleaner.
