Reddit Promises To Stop Snooping On iPhone Users

As we’ve covered in recent weeks, a new feature in iOS 14 has exposed a lot of popular iPhone apps that access users’ clipboard data without asking for permission.

Now Reddit, the hugely popular social aggregation website, promises that it will soon issue an update to its iOS app to remove the severely criticised feature.

“We do not store or send the pasteboard contents. We removed this code and are releasing the fix on 14 July,” a Reddit spokesman told The Verge.

Tiktok and LinkedIn, two of the most high-profile culprits in this regard, have both promised to remove the function (LinkedIn claimed it was a bug rather than an expected behaviour), but it still exists in many other apps. Hopefully it’s only a matter of time before the practice ends once and for all.
