iOS 14 Instagram Bug Tells You Camera Is On When It’s Not

A new bug in Instagram for the iOS 14 beta causes the camera to appear to be “on” when it’s actually off. One example of this is when the user is scrolling through their feed, reports The Verge.

An Instagram spokesperson says this is a bug in the software; Instagram does not have access to the camera in these cases, they add, and no content is recorded. “We only access your camera when you tell us to,” the representative said. “For example, when you swipe from Feed to Camera.”

Instagram now says it is working on fixing the error. It isn’t unusual to encounter bugs in apps when using an iOS beta – in fact this is exactly what the beta-testing phase is designed to discover. For this reason we recommend that you install the iOS 14 beta only if you’re prepared to deal with buggy behaviour in apps you depend on.
