Ubisoft Forward is the giant game publisher’s E3 replacement event: a livestream in which it will reveal new trailers and footage from its biggest upcoming titles, plus hopefully a few surprises.
We already know that Ubisoft Forward will include new details on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Hyper Scape, but we have high hopes for a few surprise reveals too.
Plus, anyone who tunes in to watch the show live will be eligible to receive a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 on PC – not a bad reason to check the stream out, especially if you want to prep for the release of Legion.
Here’s what you need to know about how to watch, and how to claim your free copy of the game.
When is Ubisoft Forward?
Ubisoft Forward takes place on Sunday 12 July at 12pm PDT / 3pm EDT / 8pm BST / 9pm CEST, though there’s a pre-show that kicks off 90 minutes earlier and will include new information about current Ubisoft games.
How to watch Ubisoft Forward live
Ubisoft has said that you should head to the Ubisoft Forward site to watch the show, but it’s a pretty safe bet that it will appear on the official Ubisoft YouTube channel, and it would also be co-streamed on several Twitch channels.
How to get Watch Dogs 2 for free
Ubisoft has revealed that during the show it will be possible for anyone to claim a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 on PC.
To do so, either watch the show through the Ubisoft website or Uplay, and make sure you’re logged into your Ubisoft account at the time.
Alternatively, watch on one of the official Twitch partner channels and make sure that your Twitch account is linked to your Ubisoft account so that you can receive Ubisoft Twitch drops.
Either way, you’ll have to log in and watch at some point between 7:30 and 9:30 BST – i.e. between half an hour before the main show starts, and when it’s set to finish.
What will Ubisoft announce?
When it announced Ubisoft Forward, the company promised “an E3-style showcase with plenty of exclusive game news, exciting reveals, and much more.”
That doesn’t give much away, but a more recent teaser for the event has a very clear focus on three games: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion and the newly revealed shooter Hyper Scape.
At the very least we can expect new gameplay footage and details from these games, and potentially firmer release windows for some of them.
Ubisoft has plenty of games in the pipeline however. Rainbow Six Quarantine, Gods & Monsters, Skull & Bones, Roller Champions, and Beyond Good & Evil 2 are all on the way from the giant publisher, and we’d be surprised if a few of them didn’t get at least a mention on Sunday.
Ubisoft has also confirmed that the pre-show will include announcements for existing games including Trackmania, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Just Dance 2020, and The Division 2.
That still leaves the ‘exciting reveals’ though. What could we hope for? Well it’s been a while since the last Far Cry game, and recent speculation pinned acclaimed actor Giancarlo Esposito down for the villainous role, so our money’s on a Far Cry 6 announcement featuring him.
