iPhone 13 to feature energy-efficient LTPO screen

As we approach the all-important iPhone 12 launch, rumours continue to spread about the iPhone 13.

A new claim, reported by Cult of Mac, is that Apple will use LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) screen tech in next year’s iPhone models.

LTPO displays are already used in the Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5, and are significantly more energy-efficient than OLED displays. They can improve battery life by up to 15 percent over OLED, something which would be hugely appreciated by phone buyers.

But is the theory correct? We’ve heard this one before: similar rumours did the rounds in both 2018 and 2019. Hopefully it’s a case of third time lucky.
