How To Turn Off Bitdefender Safepay Notifications

One of the protection features offered by Bitdefender Total Security is a secure web browser that’s designed to be used whenever you’re using online banking, shopping or anything else that requires you to enter sensitive financial information.

And Bitdefender will, by default, pop up a notification when you click on a website that it thinks should be opened in Safepay instead of Chrome or whatever your usual web browser is.

That can become annoying if you don’t want to use Safepay. But it’s easy to stop those notifications. Here’s what you need to do.

How do I disable Bitdefender Safepay popups?

First, open the main Bitdefender Dashboard. The simplest way to do this is to click on the arrow that points up near the clock and date at the bottom-right corner of your screen.

In this area you’ll see all the apps that are running in the background, including the Bitdefender icon.

Click it and the Dashboard will open. Now click on Privacy in the menu on the left-hand side.

You’ll see Safepay on the right. Click on Settings.

Now you’ll see the toggle to turn off Safepay notifications whenever you visit a banking website.

You can also set up Safepay to automatically open whenever you visit a ‘whitelisted’ website (that you’ve set up elsewhere in Bitdefender).

If you don’t want that to happen, turn off that toggle as well.

Bitdefender offers its own VPN service which can be set to enable automatically when Safepay starts. We’re not the biggest fans of the VPN (read our Bitdefender Premium VPN review here) and so if you do want to use a VPN for security reasons, then check our our recommendations in our roundup of the best VPN services.
