How To Get Disney Plus For Free

Disney Plus may still be playing catch-up to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but with a library of content that includes The Mandalorian, as well as some of the biggest blockbuster movies, it’s easy to see why this is becoming one of the most popular streaming services out there.

Sign-ups are now available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands, and a good portion of Europe will receive it on 24 March 2020. Priced at £5.99/USD$6.99 for a monthly subscription, it’s quite a lot for your buck. However, if you’re not sure whether Disney Plus is right for you – or if you’re a bit strapped for cash – then there is a way to watch it for free.

Read on to find out all the methods to try out Disney Plus without spending a penny. If you’d like to know more news about the streaming service, then check out our Disney+ news roundup.

Sign up for O2 and get Disney+ free for six months

Searching for a brand new phone contract in the UK? O2 has partnered with Disney Plus to offer six months of the service for free with all new contracts, including upgrades. But that’s not all – existing O2 customers who aren’t upgrading can also add Disney+ as an extra on their current plan for £5.99 per month, with £2 a month being knocked off the bill.

At the moment there’s no set date for when this deal will end, but we’ll keep a close eye on this situation. Find out more on the O2 Disney Plus discount page.

Use a free trial for Disney Plus

The simplest way of getting free Disney+ is to use the free trial. Disney Plus offers seven days without payment for all users before requiring you to commit to a subscription. At the moment, this is only available in the five countries that Disney+ has launched in, but UK users can still sign up to Disney Plus US through using a VPN. Check out detailed instructions in our guide to watching Disney Plus in the UK.

To claim a free trial, all you need to do is head on over to the Disney Plus homepage, and click on the button on the top which says ‘start free trial’. As with most free trials, you’ll need to put in your card details, but a warning that you will be automatically charged if you don’t cancel your subscription before the free trial ends.

To cancel your subscription, click on your user profile, select your account, then billing details, and then click on ‘cancel subscription’ and confirm. You can do this as soon as you create your account, and you’ll still receive your seven days for free.

Sadly there isn’t yet a way to extend a free trial, short of making an entirely new account. But seven days is still enough time to binge The Mandalorian or catch a film or two.

Get Disney Plus with Verizon broadband

As a preface, this option is not technically free (as you’ll still have to pay for the internet), and it’s also not really an option to anyone outside of the USA. However, if you’re an American who is in the market for a new broadband provider, then you can get one year’s worth of Disney Plus – which is worth USD$69.99 for the annual subscription – added onto your internet subscription for free as part of a bundle.

This offer is available to new customers on the Fios or 5G home internet plans with Verizon. Even if you’re already subscribed to Disney Plus, Verizon have confirmed that users can freeze their subscriptions, claim 12 months free, and then resume their usual subscription after the year is up.

Plans start from as low as USD$39.99 per month, but certain options (like 5G) are only available in selected areas, so check on the Verizon website for full details.
