How to change a Chromebook wallpaper

The first thing I do when I get a new computer, smartphone, tablet, or anything with a screen is try to give it my own personal touch. One way of doing this is changing the look of your main screen, and today we’re here to show you how to change a Chromebook wallpaper. Keep reading for your customization needs.


Change Chromebook wallpaper from desktop

This is likely the simplest way to change your Chromebook wallpaper. Here are the steps to follow.

  1. With the cursor anywhere on your desktop, right-click using the mouse, tap on the trackpad with two fingers, or long-press the touchscreen.
  2. A menu will show up. Select Set wallpaper.
  3. The menu will give you a selection of very nice Chromebook wallpaper images. You can select one or pick a photo from your files.
  4. You can also pick Surprise me to have a different photo regularly.
  5. To pick a Chromebook wallpaper, simply click on the photo, adjust the crop, and close the window.
  6. Done!

Those who have an image in mind and where it is can jump through the searching process and just set the desired Chromebook wallpaper.

  1. Open the Files app.
  2. Find your image.
  3. With the cursor over your image, right-click using the mouse, tap on the trackpad with two fingers, or long-press the touchscreen.
  4. Select Set as wallpaper.
  5. You’re set!

Sync your Chrome OS wallpaper across devices

You can sync your Chromebook wallpaper (as well as settings) across multiple Chrome OS devices. This will ensure you will already have your wallpaper whenever you log into a Chromebook using your Google account.

  1. Select the time/account section in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select the gear icon to enter the settings.
  3. Find the People section.
  4. Select Sync and Google services.
  5. Choose Manage sync.
  6. Select what you want to sync, or pick Sync everything.
