Once you get your new Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone, you may encounter issues on occasion that will cause it to slow down or even freeze on you. It’s possible that a third-party app might be the culprit, but in order to check you will need to put your Galaxy S20 into Safe Mode.

What is Safe Mode? Basically, it’s a clean mode that only lets first-party apps run. That means if your problem went away in this mode, a third-party app is the cause. Here are two ways to boot into the Samsung Galaxy S20 Safe Mode.

How to boot into Galaxy S20 Safe Mode when powered up

The first method to boot into safe mode works when your Galaxy S20 is powered up.

  1. Press down and hold on the power button until you see the power off icon.
  2. Press and hold on the power off icon until you see the Safe Mode icon.
  3. Tap on the Safe Mode icon and the Galaxy S20 will begin going into that mode.

At this point the phone should come on again and you should see a Safe mode indicator at the bottom left side of the screen. To exit Safe Mode, follow the first step above to restart the phone normally.
