Many Nokia 5 users are complaining about a bug that kills apps sent to the background. This issue has arisen post the Android 7.1.2 update that came for Nokia 5 along with the October Security update. We checked the issue on our Nokia 5 (TA-1053) Indian variant and we can confirm that while apps sent to the background are not exactly killed, they don’t resume and rather have to reload.
So, the issue is related to the app processes getting killed once it is sent to the background. This not only forces an app to reload while switching to it from the background it will also kill the tasks scheduled to happen in the background like a backup or sync.
The issue goes away temporarily after a reboot but comes back after some time. There is an active discussion thread over the official Nokia Discussions regarding this Nokia 5 Bug and seems HMD has acknowledged this issue and working to fix it.
Nokia 5 multitasking performance has been quite good out of the box with Android 7.1.1 and even with the huge load, it hasn’t shown any such issue. So this bug must have arrived with Android 7.1.2 update and HMD team should address it swiftly.
Thanks chancooluk for the tip. Cheers!!
